High Contrast Problem
Took this while on holiday in Britain; afternoon with really brilliant light, thus hard shadows; lost all the information of his face. I'd love some suggestions as to how I could have exposed this more successfully. Not looking for an HDR solution, as I haven't explored that technique yet.

This is an interesting challenge. Digital cameras have huge problems with bright lighting and elevated contrast levels as shown here. The easiest solution would have been to pop up your flash...this would have provided some fill light onto the upper body and the face. You can even leave the camera in P mode and it will do it all automatically...we'll talk about flash more next week in class, so make sure to try and bring questions.
